Tired of Government placing their budget over yours? Here in February your representative Karla Bigham, district 57A helped raise YOUR TAXES again with a 6.6 billion dollar transportation bill. It is obvious she does not have your budget in mind. Only interest in spending more of your money. It is time for change in our district. Its time to put your support behind Perkins for the People. Lets start prioritizing and eliminating waste instead of putting the burden on our citizens. We are taxed enough. Please see below that the Minnesota State government collects more than its fair share of taxes from you. Please take a look at the unbiased census report for the facts.
The link below is from the United States Census Bureau and it shows the total tax burden for each state along with the per capita tax burden, which is crucial. Obviously, New York and California are going to have much larger total tax collections in raw numbers than Minnesota because they are much larger. That's why the Census includes the per capita tax burden, the only one that counts because it measures the taxes that fall upon each individual in the state. Here, when you plug in the year, and then click 'ranking table', you will find for 2005 that Minnesota ranks sixth. For some reason, the Census Bureau for 2006 only has the 'total tax,' which is, misleading. It shows our total taxes at 12th which KARE 11 News falsely reported that it was per capita based. It fails to account for the per capita burden. A few statisticians have done some quick calculations and found us to be around 7th for 2006, but we'll wait until Census releases their figures. No doubt we're still in the top ten given the fact that taxes have not gone down (in fact, including the tobacco fee they've gone up) from 2005 to 2006 while the population has remained relatively stable. Regardless, here's the primary source so you can decide for yourself.
